What an exciting winter as we approach the Year of the Fire Monkey. Although last winter had been very mild, this year the Farmer’s Almanac forebode a more chilly and difficult winter. With the cold comes snow and ice and amazing crystal formations. On Wednesday, first thing in the morning, I looked out my office windows and saw ice on the lake. Ice formed all the way across the lake. How beautiful was that? All this week, it has been cold enough to see ice on the lake in the morning.

The topic of amazing crystalized formations has been coming up a lot in the office lately. These conversations invariably remind me of the work of Masaru Emoto. He became famous for his mesmerizing water crystals photographs. Yet, it was what he learned studying crystals formed in water that was truly mesmerizing. An amazing aspect of his work was the different formations based on different types of music vibrations and the fact that water could hold the form until another vibration changed it.

Our body is estimated to be more than 60% water. In blood, alone, water comprises approximately 92% of blood. Fat only has about 10% water which is less than bone at 22%. The brain and muscle are made up of about 75% water.

Like Masaru Emoto’s work suggests, the fluids in our bodies have the ability to create and hold patterns. If the body responded like water, than a significant or constant vibration would create a pattern within our body. That pattern would be able to self-perpetuate until another vibration was able to change the pattern.

There are two things about self-perpetuating patterns. First, like entrainment suggests (see Music For Healing), it is far easier to be around the same beat or rhythm. Thus, people are more comfortable around people who are exhibiting the same energetic beat and feel awkward or uncomfortable around those who have a different beat. If you were able to step back and view the pattern, those who are comfortable around each other would have similar patterns. That is helpful when dealing family members. There are usually a consistent pattern underneath everything even if the family members appear different.

The difficult part comes when a person wants to change their pattern. To change the vibration that perpetuates within their body, they need to change the vibration which their body hears. That is why you’ll see rehab clinics suggesting that you change your friendships. The goal is to expose yourself to a different energy long enough to change your pattern.

Meditation, such as Qi Gong, is another method of changing your vibration. Meditation is a common “go-to” option because meditation is about training the mind to let go of the “noise” of everyday living. The amount of practice it takes to just quiet the mind for 5 seconds is usually longer than most of us want to spend. Yet, meditation, taken with patience and practiced with love, has the ability to help change your internal vibration.

Meditation doesn’t have to take a long time. It may start with just 5 minutes a day in front of a window. It may start with 15 minutes once a week. By calming the mind, we change our internal vibration and have the potential to change our world.

The easiest way to change your energetic vibration is with the use of acupuncture. As many of you know who have come into the office suffering from anxiety, acupuncture and herbs can change the way you address the world in as little as six to eight treatments.

Good-luck and keep calm. From what the forecasts say, we may have many snowy days this winter to experience beautiful ice crystals and practice changing our vibration.
